The Trump administration has issued a series of demands to Harvard University aimed at reshaping its governance, admissions policies, and academic culture.  They want to audit university courses and academic journals, eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programmes, have stricter disciplinary actions against protests, and ensure international students align with “American values.”

In response to Harvard’s refusal to comply, the Trump administration has imposed sanctions and issued further threats. These include a freeze on billions of dollars of funding, with a threat to withhold billions more, the suspension of Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, and threats to revoke the university’s tax-exempt status.
